Minors at AUN
A minor is a course sequence within an area of study providing a degree of specialization within that area, a specialty within a discipline, or a specialty integrating several disciplines. Minors balance introductory and advanced coursework. Students wishing to obtain a minor are encouraged to contact their academic advisor. Please note that no more than six (6) credit hours of minor coursework can overlap with major or general education requirements.
Minor should have normally completed a minimum of 30 credit hours of course work and be in good academic standing. The following rules apply:
The minor consists of a minimum of 18 credit hours, including at least nine credit hours in courses at or above the 300 level.
At least nine credit hours of the 18 credit hours required for the minor must be taken in residence at AUN.
At least six credit hours of the nine credit hours at or above the 300 level must be taken in residence at AUN
A minimum grade of C (GPA of 2.00) must be earned in courses completed to satisfy the minor. Students seeking a minor must successfully complete the courses prescribed by the relevant Department in the relevant School.

Minor in Economics
The Economics minor introduces students to both microeconomics and macroeconomics, allows students to explore a variety of economic theories and economic policies that characterize the modern economy, and provides training in basic econometric analysis.

Minor in History
The discipline in history is the interpretation of the past based on evidence. Students pursuing a minor in history will learn to analyze evidence from the past in order to understand the present and the future better. To provide both depth and breadth of knowledge, the minor in history is organized around three scales of analysis: World, Region, and State/Nation/Locality. To minor in history students must complete 18 credit hours as outlined below.
Two history (HIS) courses (6 credit hours) at the 100 or 200 level. One course (3 credit hours) must be a 200- level history course.
One other history courses (3 credit hours) at the 200, 300 or 400 level.
At least one course (3 credit hours) of the 18 credit hours must be taken each of the following categories: 1) World, 2) Region, and 3) State/Nation/Locality.
One course (3 credit hours) of CIV 101 African Civilization, CIV 102 Western Civilization, GEN 102 Nigerian Peoples and Cultures, or GEN 103 History and Philosophy of Science may be used towards fulfilling lower level minor in history requirements. CIV 111 or CIV 112 may be used instead of CIV 101, CIV 102, GEN 102, or GEN 103 with permission of the History Minor Coordinator.
Minor in Information Management & Technology
With the all-important role computers and IT play in today’s workplace, this minor provides students with a distinctive edge and opportunity to differentiate themselves from their peers in the marketplace from day one. It offers a balanced combination of traditional IT and analytics.
