AUN-HR Empowers Staff with High-Impact Leadership and Growth Training

The 黑料网 has reaffirmed its commitment to institutional excellence with a powerful two-day refresher training for administrative staff and professional cadres, held August 11鈥12, 2025, at the 24-Hour Library.

Designed to prepare staff for the Fall Academic Session, the sessions focused on leadership continuity, emotional intelligence, effective supervision, and the growth mindset essential for a dynamic academic environment.

One of the most compelling moments came from Vice-President of Administration and Registrar, Mr. Daniel Okereke, whose presentation on 鈥淪uccession Plan and Institutional Sustainability鈥 underscored the urgency of preparing future leaders. His message was clear: without deliberate planning, even strong institutions risk losing momentum.

Vice-President, Finance, Nnenna Mosugu, offered a thought-provoking session on 鈥淓motional Intelligence鈥, reminding participants that the way they understand and manage emotions often determines success more than technical skill alone.

Dean of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Yusuf Ahmed Kani, inspired the audience with 鈥淕rowth Mindset at Work: Embracing Learning and Development鈥, urging participants to treat challenges as opportunities to improve.

In her presentation, Assistant Vice-President, HR, Hajia Faizatu Ahmed, took participants through 鈥淎ccountability and Ownership at Workplace鈥, driving home the need for personal responsibility and professional integrity as the foundation of AUN鈥檚 culture.

Equally transformative was the presentation by HR Director, Mustapha Abubakar, whose talk on 鈥淓ffective Supervision鈥 broke down the art of managing people into clear, actionable strategies鈥攃ommunication, mentorship, and performance monitoring鈥攖hat empower teams to deliver their best.

Adding further depth to the program, Event Director, Mr. Usoh, delivered an engaging presentation on AUN鈥檚 core values of excellence, integrity, and service, showing how they guide decisions across the University. University Psychologist, Mr. Babalola Olajubu, addressed 鈥淲ork-Life Balance鈥, emphasizing boundaries and well-being for sustained productivity. Assistant Director, HR, Madam Monica Adama, in her session 鈥淵ou Matter Here: The Role of Belonging and Contribution in Team Engagement鈥, stressed that inclusion and recognition are vital for motivation and job satisfaction.

A cross-section of participants praised the initiative, noting that the training had given them practical tools they could start applying immediately. They stated that the workshop was 鈥渘ot loaded with theory but a practical on how to work better as a team and contribute to AUN鈥檚 long-term success.鈥

By the close of the event, participants left with not just renewed skills, but a sharper sense of purpose and alignment with AUN鈥檚 mission.
